Truth Tuesday: Surviving Stress

It is my final week of classes at Ferris State University, and the stress is real. I have final projects, papers and posters to prepare for, and I do not have a post-college job lined up yet. Don't even get me started on my possible impending move to Columbus, Ohio.
However, I am handing it the best that I can.
Here are my top tips for surviving stress:
1. Exercise.
One of my favorite ways to handle my stress is by taking a quick break to do some yoga, or go for a quick jog. Even just going for a walk is a great way to release some endorphins and get your mind off your final project.

2. Volunteer!
I volunteer at an animal shelter and it is always a relaxing experience. How can you be stressed when you are surrounded by wagging dog tails?
3. Watch your favorite movie.
After a particularly overwhelming day, I love to designate two hours to curl up under a blanket and watch Breakfast at Tiffany's. It allows my mind to just take a time out and I feel so much more refreshed afterwards.
4. Hang out with your friends.
I am so thankful for my friends, particularly under times of stress. They always know how to pick me up and are the perfect escape from any stresses I have. I even feel better simply studying with them.
5. Snacks!
If you don't have a lot of time to set aside, just take a quick snack break to refuel. Grab a banana, scan your social media accounts and take a deep breath. Then, get back to work.
6. Read a book.
Nothing is as relaxing as completely escaping from reality with a good book. This can be fiction or nonfiction. You are still exercising your mind and expanding your knowledge, but you still get to take a break from your homework.
7. Bake your favorite treat.
Baking is so therapeutic. Whenever I'm stressed, I whip up a batch of my homemade chocolate chip cookies and I instantly feel better (having a few cookies and smelling cookies throughout your entire house helps too).
I hope this helps cope with your stress!
