Current Obsession: Oberon Ale

Michiganders, it is that time of year again. It's Oberon season.
For those of you that don't know what Oberon is, it is a delicious Michigan-made ale that is only available from late March to early September, and is often served with an orange slice. It is made at Kalamazoo's very own Bell's Brewery, and even though I'm not a big drinker, it's something I've been looking forward to.

Let me start out by saying that I was very hesitant to write an entire blog post about a beer, because I'm very concerned with how that might look. However, my 22 birthday is in a few days and I decided that it was okay, just this once, because Oberon is only available for a few months.
The release of Oberon signals the upcoming summer months, bonfires, and trips to the lakes. It takes my mind to a warmer place, and allows me to escape the Michigan snow storm I'm currently trapped in.
Bell's Brewery even describes Oberon as, "An American wheat ale with a spicy hop character, mildly fruity aromas and the color and scent of a sunny afternoon."
Does it get better than that?!
If you haven't tried Oberon, I highly suggest you head to your local grocery store (or your closest Buffalo Wild Wings, because that's the only place that I could find it) and grab a few. I hadn't tried Oberon until last year, and I was pleasantly surprised, and I know it's something I'm going to continue to enjoy for years to come... and something I will drive five hours for when I move out of Michigan.
I think part of what makes it so delicious is knowing that I only get a few more months to enjoy the crisp taste until next year. The logo says it all: Oberon makes you think of the summer sun, and all that comes with it. I am obsessed with it, so it's only fitting that it this week's current obsession.
This summer, you will find me outside, with an Oberon, playing with the dog I have yet to adopt. Join me. :)
