Truth Tuesday: My Beef with Blogging

Welcome to my first Truth Tuesday, which will be a regular on my blog, where I am very honest about my thoughts on a topic.

Let me start by saying, my blog has been slacking, I know. There is no excuse, I simply didn't make it a priority.

Spring Break has allowed me to reflect on that, and make a decision on what to do next.

I have always struggled with my blog. My first blog ever, was a Blogger, and I used it as a diary to jot down my feelings, and day-to-day things that no one cared about but myself. I used it more of an escape; I've always loved to write. However, I got bored with it, and transitioned to WordPress last year to create more of a "other people might actually read this" blog. What I found was that only my closest friends read it, and it was all over the place.

I don't want to do that anymore.

Now, I have begun to blog on my website, so everything is just in one place, making things much simpler.

But I still have some beef with blogging.

In order to have a successful blog, you have to actually commit to the blog, and that's something I've struggled with. You have to make the blog a priority, and among other things going on in my life, I don't always make my blog a priority.

I keep reading all of these blogs, impressed with the frequency that they post and the up-to-date content in which they post... I feel like have a success blog is a full time job.

Now I don't necessarily have the time that some bloggers do to commit to this blog, I'm still making it a priority, every single week.

Another struggle I came across was writer's block. Sometimes I don't know what to write, and when I think about what I'm going to write, I wonder, "does anyone actually care what I'm posting about?" I want a blog that's relatable; a blog that is real and that is me.

So, welcome to my new blog. I want a blog that I can be proud of, instead of wincing and hesitating whenever someone asked if I had a blog. This blog is a direct reflection of me, what I care about, and how I'm feeling. I'm laying it all out there (in a professional way).

Enjoy!

Do you struggle with staying on top of your blog too? Let me know in the comments ways that keep yourself motivated, or ways that you overcome writer's block?
